An ode to the coach

Writer: Van Eijndhoven & GOVan Eijndhoven & GO

FOR THE COASCH WITH A SENSE OF HUMOUR and SELF-MOCKERY (and everyone who has something to do with coaches).

In the past, you’d go to your neighbour, your father, a wise friend, or sit in confessional at church. Long before that, the ancient Greeks were already doing it: philosophers like Socrates had mentor-student relationships that were comparable. In this fast-paced era where everything has to be done quickly and people are increasingly focused on themselves, we’ve got the coach, a person to vent with, and who, if they’re good, helps you see the right perspective. Who makes sure you get back on track (again). Often for a fee, often in a small room… Being a 'coach' may seem trendy now, but it is, in essence, the oldest profession in the world.

This ‘Ode to the Coach’ is for all coaches and everyone that knows one. For the good and the bad. For mine and for yours.
